1. Glens Falls DFA "Meetup" Next Wednesday

Our monthly DFA "Meetup" -- now Linkup, will be held next Wednesday, March 1 at the Rockhill Bakehouse Cafe in downtown Glens Falls at our usual time of 7pm. Please come and bring a friend. On the agenda will be a discussion of forums and a video, which was postponed from last month's due to a lack of time.

The Cafe is located on the corners of Elm and Exchange Streets and Hudson Avenue. To reach the Cafe, from Northway Exit 18 turn east towards downtown Glens Falls. Past the Hannaford market, bear right by Stewarts. Go past the Post Office and the Hospital. The Cafe is just past the Hospital on the left hand side of the street just before the five corners downtown. From the East, go down the Hudson Falls Hill onto Warren Street and past the bi-county incinerator, travel west on Warren St. to the five corners downtown. The Cafe is on Hudson Ave. to the center-left just past the light.

2. Video -- "Walmart, The High Price Of The Low Price

The main focus of the agenda will be Robert Greenwald's video, "Walmart, The High Price Of The Low Price," an espose of Walmart's abusive business practices and their effect on employees, communities and our entire country. Acclaimed film and video maker Greenwald also is the creator of the videos Outfoxed, Rupert Murdoch's War On Journalism and Uncovered, The War On Iraq.

The video is 97 minutes long; accordingly, in order to show the entire video, our meeting will have to start at 7pm sharp in order to have about 15-20 minutes for other business first! This should be very popular, so please come early to get a seat!

3. Dean At Plumber's And Steamfitters

Governor Dean is on the road again, speaking yesterday at one of our favorite unions, Saratoga County Democratic Committee Chairman Larry Bulman's Plumber's and Steamfitters. In this case it's Local 412 in New Mexico, not 773 here -- but I am sure we can dream along with Larry!

The Governor praised New Mexico for going with paper ballot voting machines, rapped Dick's Cheney marksmanship, the Republican Culture of Corruption and talked about the 50 State Strategy, that, as we know, began with Dean For America. http://www.freenewmexican.com/news/39887.html

4. Democrats Rallying Around Common Anti-War Position

The Governor is also busy rallying Democrats (finally ) around a common position on the war. This is a must read. (thanks to Pell!) Here is the link, but it may not be up that long: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/02/20/democrats_may_unite_on_plan_to_pull_troops/?page=full

5. On The Lighter Side

Finally, here are some hilarious links on Dick Cheney and the Republican culture of gun abuse -- warning, there is what passes for Vice-Presidential language these days, that is, bad words that used to make mother frown (thanks Roger and Drew):

See you all next week!

Thanks,

Larry
